The location – Wilkes Land – was an impact which is considered larger than the catastrophic damage which is thought to have killed the dinosaurs.
This discovery was made by some very clever researchers who spotted the differences in density which showed up from NASA’s Grace Satellites.
The crater is approximately 300 miles wide. Scientists think it was the result of a space rock that caused the greatest mass extinction on Earth, 250 million years ago.
