Panama Canal C.17.02.12

A marvel to humanity and efficiency would be the Panama Canal. It was originally opened on 15th August 1914. The canal is 77.1 kilometres.

The canal allows a connection to the Atlantic Ocean (via the Caribbean Sea) to the Pacific Ocean. The canal cut short the lengthy and hazardous Cape Horn route around the southernmost tip of South America and soon became one of the busiest shipping routes in the world. It is currently undergoing a makeover.
